"The age of intellect has had its day.
The greater age of the heart is at hand
and the Master of Silence is its Avatar."

Music of Silence
is the website for
Simon Reece de Sousa.
For as long as I can remember I have been enchanted by music, especially the first time I heard Indian music.
I started playing the guitar when I was sixteen and after searching across various different styles (folk, ragtime, classical, flamenco and jazz) I heard two albums by musicians who played music the way I’d wanted to for years - but didn’t think you were allowed to. These were Dança das Cabeças by Egberto Gismonti and The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett.
In 1989 I first heard of and became a follower of Meher Baba, and soon after travelled to India where I started to discover my own voice, literally, as I developed a style which included singing without words, and using the texture of sound created by different instrument combinations. This led me to play various instruments from widespread traditions, including the sitar (which I studied in Kullu valley - the foothills of the Himalayas), the santoor, harp, viola, charango and especially the Armenian duduk, which for me is the most beautiful instrument in the world.
